Spunky, you hit on some great points. Being a Yankees fan (ever since I was a kid, I'm 41 now), I've noticed how the team has evolved over the years. Yeah, we had Reggie Jackson and guys like that over the years. The teams of the 1970's lacked class. However, that was then, and you guys are talking about baseball now. I see Red Sox fans as jealous over the successes of the Yankees. They have just as high a payroll as the top tier teams, so what's the problem? They complain about the Yanks overspending on Jeter, yet the Red Sox overpay Manny Ramirez? The guy is nothing more than an immature dope! Whores to their contracts? What about Nomar and Pedro? They haven't exactly set the world on fire the last three Octobers, have they? The Red Sox today have no class...today's Yankees do. That comes from Joe Torre, who was a classy and respected ballplayer. The players (most of them anyway) see that, and they will go through walls for the guy. Grady Little? That guy never even played major league baseball! I'm not even sure if he played in the minors, either! I see why the Red Sox are classless...they get their bush league antics from a bush league manager! To me, the Red Sox will always be the Beach Boys, trying to win people over with the meager catalogue they put out over the years while the Yankees will always be the Beatles, who over time still manage to win over the masses with an impressive catalogue. By the way, my wife was a Red Sox fan. It took awhile, but with help, she became a loyal Yankees supporter. :)
