Marlins Forum: Removing hot pitchers for closers

Jack McKeon:
I'll never understand it. I've been watching baseball for almost 60 years and cannot grasp the "blind faith reliance" on closers.
You may have "blown one" Tuesday, Jack. Josh was overpowering to evryone except Jeter. Jeter had JUST gotten his third hit. Josh "probably had it in him" to retire the side, now that he was past Jeter? WHY BRING IN THE RECENTLY WILD WILLIS to open up a potential
nightmare when Josh was still "in control" of 8/9 of the lineup? I don't get it!
Next- Wednesday night - Pavanno throwing so well...why would you even think he didn't have ONE MORE GOOD INNING left in him?
WHY THE NECESSITY TO USE A "CLOSER" (coming in relatively cold out of the bullpen) when your "hot" pitcher is STILL MOWING THEM DOWN? I don't get the logic.
PITCH COUNTS? This is probably the LAST time the guy gets to pitch this year.
His arm has ALL WINTER to strengthen! You ALMOST blew that one too!
Closers! Except for someone like Rivera, they have to be
OVER-REVERED!
O.K. I got my 2\cents in.
Good luck in the next 2-3 games!

Spammers do this with automated "bots" that constantly search the Web looking for e-mail addresses. Since you're a human being, not a bot, you can easily obtain the real address by removing the text that says "ThisisToPreventSpam-XYZ-RemoveThis." including the random number XYZ and the period at the end. For example, <info@ThisIsToPreventSpam-123-RemoveThis.interesting.com> would become <info@interesting.com>.
