Mariners Forum: Ode to Mike Cameron

Ode to Mike Cameron

It was top of the ninth
And all seemed quite well
A 3 to 2 lead
Then things went to hell

Sasaki got stiff
And then had to leave
Carrara got smacked
And there went the lead

Behind 5 to 3
In the bottom of nine
The pressure had mounted
The M’s were behind

But then in the wind
You could smell change
The mojo had shifted
Things just weren’t the same

First Randy singled
Then Boone drew a walk
And Edgar came through
The fans started to talk

Could the M’s do it?
Could they come back from behind?
After all those blown saves
Could this be the time?

There’s Boone on third and
Bloomquist on second
Olerud takes four
First base had beckoned

So here we are
At the bottom of nine
The bases are loaded
Someone must shine

The stands had grown quiet
The tension was great
Then mighty Mike Cameron
Stepped up to the plate

Baez reached back
And threw the first strike
It certainly seemed
A great pitch for Mike

So now 0 and 1
And Mike stepped back in
He looked back to the mound
He smiled that grin

Baez threw hard
It came in fast and tight
And our hero Mike Cameron
Sent it into the night

There are things we love
And there are things we detest
But a walk-off grand slam
Is above all, the best

So to mighty Mike Cameron
A tip of the hat
We love the heroics
When you swing the bat

Since you're a human being, not a bot, you can easily obtain the real address by removing the text that says "ThisisToPreventSpam-XYZ-RemoveThis." including the random number XYZ and the period at the end. For example, <info@ThisIsToPreventSpam-123-RemoveThis.interesting.com> would become <info@interesting.com>.
