I see the alternating years of east and west hosting the playoffs in the NL up to and including 1984. But what doesn't make sense is 1985 the NL West had home field when the went to a 7 game format. Also in 1986 the NL West had home field advantage.
85- West home field
86- West " "
87- East " "
88- West " "
89- East " "
90- East " "I don't think best record has anything to do with it either.

If the person posting this message left their e-mail address, we inserted some random characters to prevent spammers from harvesting their address. Spammers do this with automated "bots" that constantly search the Web looking for e-mail addresses. Since you're a human being, not a bot, you can easily obtain the real address by removing the text that says "ThisisToPreventSpam-XYZ-RemoveThis." including the random number XYZ and the period at the end. For example, <info@ThisIsToPreventSpam-123-RemoveThis.interesting.com> would become <info@interesting.com>.
