Braves Forum: Skip and Pete

As to why Skip and Pete
were taken out of the TBS
TV booth, I don't know - but I
do have my own opinion.
When Skip and Don used to
be paired together, Skip
was not intimidated by Don.
He even managed to keep
a lid on "motor-mouth" and
continured to call the game;
never missing a play. After
Don was inducted into the
hall of Fame, he became so
important, I'm sure he
disliked sharing the booth
with Skip, who is much the
superior announcer. If you'll
recall, you didn't really see
Don and Skip paired very
much, if at all last year. So
it's my opinion Don
managed to get someone's
ear and get Skip moved out
of the TV booth and over to
radio. Of course, radio is by
far a bigger challenge as
the radio audience
depends solely on the
announcer for the plays of
the game. Don would
prefer TV as he forgets all
about calling the game.
He's so impressed with the
sound of his own voice, he
forgets to call the game
while regaling his "glory
days". I doubt seriously
that we'll see Don and Skip
paired up at all. I don't
imagine Don is real happy
to have him back. But thank
God all of Skip's fans hung
in there and convinced the
front office it was a mistake
to take away the "Voice of
the Braves". Now we can
look forward to the games
again. And what a class act
when Skip thanked the fans
for their support. And I'm no
poet, but Don wouldn't know
class if it bit him in the
.......well, you know what I
mean.
